Google has rolled out an update for its Pixel Weather app, introducing a couple of enhancements aimed at improving the user experience. One of the notable changes is a small UI tweak in the 10-day forecast, which now includes dates alongside the days of the week. Another improvement is the addition of a shortcut that lets users quickly save a new location and display it on the homepage. However, there’s more to this update than meets the eye.
According to SmartDroid, Google has begun testing a snowfall forecast feature in the latest Pixel Weather version (1.0.20250127.729684887). While not yet available to all users, this new addition introduces a snowfall forecast card, which provides an hourly breakdown of expected snowfall, including intensity levels and timing. Screenshots suggest that this feature isn’t limited to the Pixel Weather app—it also appears in the Google app’s weather experience and Google Search, albeit with a slightly different layout.
Since the snowfall forecast hasn’t been rolled out widely, it’s unclear whether Google is still fine-tuning it or planning a broader release soon. Meanwhile, the Pixel Weather app update itself is now available to most users. If automatic updates are disabled on a Pixel device, the latest version can be downloaded manually from the Google Play Store.
Stay tuned for further updates as more details emerge about Google’s snowfall prediction feature and its potential availability to a wider audience.
